The first STREAMER store opened in Shibuya 1-chome.
2010 was the beginning of everything. Inspired by the third wave happening in the West Coast, we founded STREAMER. Coffee shops that directly purchased and roasted their own coffee, serving directly to customers at their own stores were stapled as “third-wave coffee”, and was establishing momentum surpassing chain stores in the US coffee market. Although each cup of coffee may look alike, every cup has its own unique personality. Similarly, each and every customer has their own unique palate and hence their preference. The trend in serving up single-origin coffee from around the world have helped cater to such various personal preferences, and we too thought custom crafting coffee to individual needs was going to become mainstream. But at the time, there was no standard to craft coffee, and nobody to mimic. So needless to say, every day was a succession of unexpected things, leaving us broken time and time again. However, STREAMER never quit and was persistent to move forward, and here we are now. So we want you to know that STREAMER does not belong to the third wave or specialty coffee which originally inspired us, on the contrary, we draw a line. At STREAMER we believe that coffee is free, and should not be constrained by rules and definitions. We believe coffee is a preference. We believe this should be the “NEW WAVE,” and if so, STREAMER is its pioneer.
